What You'll Do
- Drive creative direction alongside the Design Director, developing sleepwear and loungewear styles from concept through production
- Lead Associate and Assistant Designers through line development, ensuring cohesive storytelling across sets and categories
- Develop seasonal direction in silhouette, fabrication, print, and trim specific to key retailers and market segments
- Monitor development of pre-production samples in partnership with Product Development
- Execute presentations at a high creative and commercial level, tailored to sleepwear consumers
- Attend and help lead fit sessions, ensuring comfort, fit integrity, and wearability
- Review garments at pre-production stage to confirm all details are accurate prior to bulk production
- Integrate trend research specific to sleepwear/loungewear, including fabric innovation, softness, drape, and comfort-driven design
Key Accountability Area: Capability
- Ability to guide teams in creating cohesive sleepwear assortments (sets, separates, robes, etc.)
- Strong understanding of sleepwear-specific garment construction, including relaxed silhouettes, elastications, closures, and soft finishing techniques
- Deep knowledge of textiles suited for sleepwear (jersey, rib, modal blends, fleece, flannel, satin, etc.)
- Strong aesthetic with an emphasis on color, print, novelty graphics, and comfort-driven design
- Ability to manage timelines and deadlines within a fast-paced calendar environment
- Excellent verbal, organizational, and written communication skills
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with strong follow-through
- Strong trend awareness across sleepwear, loungewear, and lifestyle categories
- Experience creating tech packs and proto packages, and partnering with overseas vendors
What You’ll Need
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textiles, Merchandising, or related field
- 5–7 years of experience in women’s apparel design, ideally with sleepwear/loungewear focus
- Portfolio required (sleepwear or adjacent category strongly preferred)
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
- Strong understanding of garment construction, with an emphasis on comfort, fit, and fabric performance
- Experience with prints, graphics, all-over patterns, and placement design relevant to sleepwear
- Knowledge of textile development, printing techniques, washes, and finishes suited for soft goods
- Familiarity with tech packs, CADs, and digital illustrations
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within deadlines
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
- Experience working with overseas vendors and development partners
- Strong sense of color, print, and trend direction specific to sleep/lifestyle categories
- Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships through communication and problem solving
