Title: Packaging Designer

Salary: $75,000-$150,000

Responsibilities:
- Design and develop cost-effective, innovative, and consumer-friendly hang tags and structural packaging solutions
- Create and refine packaging die-lines and artwork, ensuring accuracy, manufacturability, and brand consistency
- Own packaging development for assigned brands or categories, from concept through final production
- Ensure packaging solutions align with brand standards while supporting execution efficiency across categories
- Conduct market research and apply trend insights to support packaging design and seasonal concepts
- (Senior level) Lead market research initiatives and present opportunities and recommendations to leadership
- Lead cross-functional execution with Design, Sales, Marketing, Product Approval, and Sourcing teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery
- Communicate sample and production submit comments clearly and ensure updates are implemented accurately
- Monitor packaging sample timelines, proactively identifying risks and driving solutions to meet deadlines
- Meet all deadlines in adherence to the seasonal design calendar
- Own final approval of digital and physical submits from vendors, including color, substrate, and finishes
- Execute packaging audits and reviews to verify specifications and maintain quality standards
- Maintain development tracking charts, packaging briefs, and related documentation
- Own and maintain packaging approvals in VSN, ensuring system accuracy and visibility for global teams
- Partner with Product Approval and Sourcing teams to resolve vendor approvals, production issues, and quality concerns
- Identify and implement packaging design, material, and manufacturing solutions to improve cost, quality, and efficiency
- (Senior level) Oversee vendor performance and resolve complex production and quality challenges
- Support and drive process improvements to enhance packaging development workflows and efficiencies
- (Senior level) Establish and communicate packaging standards, processes, and best practices across teams and vendors
- Oversee packaging design and development across brands, ensuring alignment with business objectives and brand strategy
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to Assistant and Associate Designers
- Participate in recruiting, training, and developing team members
- Drive team performance, prioritization, and execution of key initiatives
- Manage special projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Fine Arts, or related field
- Minimum 5+ years of packaging design experience (apparel or consumer products preferred; children’s wear a plus)
- Strong portfolio showcasing packaging design, structure, and branding work
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop required) and Microsoft Excel
- In-depth knowledge of layout, die-lines, and structural packaging design
- Strong understanding of materials, printing processes, and production methods
- Ability to balance creativity with cost-efficiency and manufacturability
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, including proofreading capabilities
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong understanding of 3D form, structure, and spatial design
- Illustration skills are a plus
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving strategic initiatives
- Proven ability to influence decision-making and present to senior leadership
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members
- Strong knowledge of global packaging production and vendor management
