Title: Associate Technical Designer

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing fit samples, measurement specs, and fit comments across multiple categories.
  • Attend and document fit sessions; take clear and concise notes, measurements, and photographs.
  • Communicate fit corrections and construction comments to domestic and overseas vendors.
  • Track samples and ensure all fits are completed in a timely manner to meet development and production deadlines.
  • Create and update tech packs, including detailed technical sketches, BOMs (Bill of Materials), graded specs, and construction details.
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy of measurement specs throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with design and production to ensure technical feasibility of styles without compromising design intent.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with overseas factories regarding specs, fits, and approvals.
  • Follow up on sample development and fit revisions to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
  • Help troubleshoot fit and construction issues during development and pre-production phases.
  • Participate in style reviews, approvals, and pre-production meetings.
  • Help review TOP and PP samples to ensure adherence to approved fit and specs.
  • Organize and maintain digital files and physical samples for each style.
  • Ensure adherence to the development and production calendar by tracking sample status and approvals.
  • Keep sample tracking logs and tech pack updates current.
  • Assist in maintaining departmental organization and ensuring cross-functional alignment on timelines.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical design with a focus on women’s contemporary or Missy’s apparel.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques, and patternmaking.
  • Understanding of grading, fit balance, and proportion across sizes.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, Word, and familiarity with PLM or tech pack systems.
  • Experience with both domestic and overseas production and vendor communication.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for maintaining high standards of quality and fit.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
