Our client is an apparel company who specializes in childrenswear, and licensed apparel based in New York City. We are recruiting for an Assistant Technical Designer to join their team. This is a true entry level position, and new graduates are welcome to apply!
Responsibilities
· Generate computerized specification packages
· Compiles and maintains all tech packs for accuracy, completeness, quality, affordability, and compliance
· Review and evaluate samples for spec, pattern shape, and construction
· Organizes fittings based on what samples need to be fit
· Takes detailed fit notes in each fitting to ensure proper fit
· Provides fit comments and spec updates to the factories based on revisions made during fitting through written communication and/or pattern corrections, in a timely manner
· Performs pattern corrections where needed and sends out corrected patterns
· Ensures that all components and constructions used are compliant For Childrenswear guidelines
· Maintain fit standards, records, and samples; Helps to organize and file samples by season and factory
· Utilize digital photos, technical sketches, detailed instructions, and comments from fit sessions to communicate corrections
· Maintain consistency in fit across all apparel categories
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related
· 0-2 years of experience in Technical design
· Knowledge of Childrenswear guidelines
Qualifications
· Strong knowledge of apparel fitting, specs, and fitting
· Strong organizational skills
· Ability to work in a fluid, fast-paced, multi channel environment
· Detail oriented and able to handle multiple task at once
· Ability to work independently and work to meet multiple deadlines
· Ability to build and maintain relationships with other departments as well as vendors and other overseas offices
· Adaptable mindset with ability to switch gears
· Takes initiative for product categories
· Strong PLM, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel skills
