Our client is a contemporary menswear fashion brand based in New York City. We are recruiting for an PD/Design Assistant to join their team! Candidates should have strong sketching skills and at least 1 year of experience in development or design.
We are seeking a creative and detail oriented Product Development / Design Assistant to support the design and product development team from concept through production.
Responsibilities
• Assist with product design and development from initial concept through final production
• Create and update sketches, technical drawings, and product presentations
• Work with the design and development team to create and revise product specifications
• Assist with sample development, fittings, comments, revisions, and approvals
• Communicate with vendors and factories regarding product details, materials, construction, and samples
• Track samples, development timelines, approvals, and production details
• Review samples to ensure products meet design intent and communicate necessary revisions
• Assist with fabric, trim, color, and material selections
• Maintain product information, development files, and calendars
• Assist with trend research, materials, colors, and product inspiration
Qualifications
• 1 to 3 years of experience in apparel, accessories, or product development
• Must be able to sketch by hand and translate ideas into clear product sketches
• Strong understanding of product construction and development
• Experience working with samples, vendors, and factories
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Creative, proactive, and able to work in a fast paced environment
• Strong communication and follow through
