Location: New York, New York
Salary: $75,000-$110,000
*Salary is commensurate with experience and is an estimated range provided by JPSearch*
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed technical packages (tech packs) for children’s accessories, including measurements, materials, construction details, and packaging requirements
- Collaborate closely with design, product development, and production teams to ensure accurate execution of licensed products
- Review and approve samples (proto, fit, pre-production, TOP), providing clear and actionable feedback to vendors
- Ensure all products meet brand standards, licensing requirements, and safety regulations for children’s products
- Establish and maintain specifications, grading, and tolerances across multiple categories (e.g., bags, cold weather, small accessories, etc.)
- Partner with overseas factories to troubleshoot construction issues and resolve technical challenges
- Track product development timelines and support on-time delivery across multiple seasons and programs
- Maintain consistency and quality across high-volume production runs
- Support continuous improvement of fit, functionality, and construction techniques
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Design, Fashion Design, Product Development, or related field
- 5+ years of technical design experience, preferably in accessories and/or children’s products
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and manufacturing processes for accessories
- Experience working with licensed brands and understanding of approval processes is highly preferred
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, PLM systems, and Microsoft Office
- Strong understanding of children’s product safety standards and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and with overseas vendors
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Background in categories such as backpacks, handbags, cold weather accessories, headwear, or small goods
- Experience working with global sourcing teams and international factories
- Familiarity with testing standards and compliance regulations for children’s accessories (CPSIA, ASTM, etc.) preferred but not mandatory
