Role Overview: The Director of Sales will be responsible for leading and executing our retail growth strategy, with a focus on acquiring and scaling new wholesale partnerships. This role will initially prioritize business development  and be able to open up new partnerships with Ulta and Sephora, while also managing and optimizing performance across other strategic retail partners. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong track record in the beauty space, bringing deep relationships and a proven ability to drive brand growth through high-impact retail collaborations.


Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Sales Delivery

  • Own and implement the sales strategy for key retail accounts, with an emphasis on acquiring and growing partnerships with Ulta, Sephora, and other leading beauty retailers.
  • Deliver annual sales goals while ensuring strategic alignment with brand identity and growth targets.
  • Proactively analyze sell-in and sell-through performance, using insights to optimize product assortment, promotional cadence, and in-store strategy.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to build retailer-specific digital and in-store activations that drive awareness and conversion.
  • Partner with eCommerce and digital teams to optimize PDP content, enhance brand visibility online, and secure high-impact retail media placements.
  • Develop accurate sales forecasts and work closely with operations and supply chain to manage demand planning and inventory flow.
  • Measure ROI on retail programs including promotional spend, sampling initiatives, and GWPs.

Business Development & Account Management

  • Lead all aspects of retail business development, from pitching and negotiations to onboarding and launch planning.
  • Build and maintain relationships with retail buyers and cross-functional contacts at key accounts.
  • Negotiate trade terms, margin structures, and annual promotional calendars in alignment with financial goals.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for retail partners, overseeing all facets of account management, from planning to execution.
  • Travel as needed for key meetings, retail visits, and market development opportunities.

Team & Operational Oversight

  • Ensure premium execution of visual merchandising, planograms, and retail operations across all points of distribution.
  • Own all administrative aspects of sales operations including new item setup, order processing, inventory monitoring, and trade spend tracking.

Market Insights & Performance Analysis

  • Conduct regular analysis of category trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to inform strategy.
  • Provide accurate sales reporting and insights to leadership, ensuring transparency and accountability across all initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of sales experience in the beauty or personal care space, with a strong preference for clean/vegan brands and prestige or masstige retail.
  • Proven success securing and growing retail partnerships—Ulta and/or Sephora experience is strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of retail negotiation, promotional strategy, and merchandising.
  • Strong relationships with key buyers in the US beauty market.
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented with strong financial acumen.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
